If you run Jetpack plugin with Contact Form 7, then the latest update of Jetpack will auto deploy it’s own contact form module over the top of your CF7 form.

SOLUTION: deactive the contact form module in Jetpack and your CF7 form should reappear (it did for me at least!).

    Hope this helps someone else!

  • Can’t something be done about this so that JetPack isn’t stomping on a plugin with a significant history and contribution to WordPress?

Personally, I’m more apt to use something from the same people who develop WordPress, but the contact form, built into JetPack is so significantly crippled, I don’t see why the developers wouldn’t have created a way for the two to co-exist.

I would suggest that Automattic/WordPress bring in the Contact Form 7 team, to fix the JetPack Contact Form, taking on more of the features of Contact Form 7.

As it sits now, Contact Form 7 isn’t just far superior to the JetPack Contact Form option, it makes the JetPack Conctact Form development attempt look amateur.

For now, I would install this: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/manual-control/

And … yeah, we need to have words with Jetpack about this *sigh*

That is a great option, but it shouldn’t be necessary. I don’t have a problem with auto activation nor the adding of new modules. The problem I have is that it stomps on other plugins, without being remotely as functional or resourceful.

Agreed and hopefully it will be sported out longer term. This is a stop-gap solution until then.

Ok I downloaded this plugin. Silly question, but what do I do with it? Can’t see any controls, and the Contact form is still active.

One other solution that seems to have fixed the issue. Copy the new longer format of the contact form short code, looks like this [contact-form-7 id=”1225″ title=”Contact form 1″]. Then update your contact page with the new short code. With that change it seems as if Jetpack is no longer replacing the contact form.

One warning to people managing other people’s websites. The Jetpack contact form sends emails to the email address you registered with on WordPress.com. So check to see if you have emails from other sites that should have gone to a different person. Good luck explaining that one to them.

wambamboo — Manual Control for Jetpack just prevents new modules from being activated. If you already upgraded to the version that adds Grunion, then it won’t deactivate it. But it should protect you from the next time they try to sneak something in.

    Hello all,

Can someone please explain to me (a pure amatuer) how to deactivate the Jetpack contact form? I have already installed the Manual Control for Jetpack, but I don’t know how it is supposed to help.

Any help here would be appreciated. I still don’t have my contact forms working and I’m assuming it is because of this Jetpack conflict.

I hope someone can shed some light for me 🙂

^ Click Jetpack on the left sidebar.

Then on the resulting page, next to Contact Form section, there should be something that allows you to deactivate it.

Thats the strange part… All I have in the contact form section is a button that says “Learn More”, but no button that says deactivate like some other screen shots I’ve seen.

I checked the version and I do have the latest Jetpack 1.3.

Here’s what my jetpack settings page looks like:

I don’t see where I can turn off the contacts module.

    Anyone have any ideas?

This was a browser issue. I went to the wordpress admin site using Google Chrome and the deactivate button showed up when I hit the Learn More button, but in Internet Explorer, it didn’t show up.

    Thanks for the help!
