It seems odd that the Contact Form 7 Plugin does not appear in the left column of the Dashboard as a way for me to access it. To use the plugin, I have to go to "Installed Plugins" then click on "Settings."
Does that seem odd? Is there a way I can have it show up in that left column under Plugins?

Try deactivating all other plugins and switching to the default theme.

Maybe it's because I'm relatively new at doing WordPress (I've only done a couple of sites so far) BUT this sounds scary. I've done a lot of work on the website and I'm worried that it will get messed up if I switch to the default theme.
AND, if I deactivate all plugins, won't I lose the form that took 2 hours to create in Contact Form 7?
You won't lose data unless you delete the plugin after deactivating it. It's just a testing. Have a backup if you are concerned.
