I have been having the most difficult time with the plugin developer of Advanced Access Manager. He has responded to most of my queries in the support area, but they tend to be passive about solving my problems, and after I installed and used the plugin did I discover that the plugin was a commercial product.
I suggest that WordPress fully vet both free and commercial versions of this plugin, and provide the user community with detailed information about the differences between the two, if there are any. This plugin is reported by WordPress as being free, and there is no plain language available stating that there is a purchasable version available elsewhere. I can say, that after much troubleshooting, and wrestling with getting the plugin to work after updates on my own, without the support of the developer (because he was so passive about offering effective help, driving users into purchasing support in order to get more help it seems), I have given up on this plugin. It is apparent that the free version that WordPress publicly offers DOES NOT WORK 100%! The users of WordPress should fairly be notified of this before downloading and using it. Or, they should be informed that the free version is unstable, and that should they choose, they can opt for the paid version.
Thank you, for your consideration in this matter.
