   I have a multi-author plugin with local avatars. Will this plugin, or the premium, utilize the local avatars rather than gravatars, etc.? Also, if I later uninstall it, will the comment history be preserved using WP's comments system?

   the plugin uses standard wordpress functions to generate the gravatars so if your local avatars plugin filters that function then it should work ok.

   the plugin only enhances your comments system, it doesn't replace it so if you remove it then your existing comments will not be affected.
