PROBLEM: Editor listed as author on mobile devices (using wptouch).

    Desktop view is not affected.

All of the sudden, several articles are now listed for the editors and the original authors. Editors (administrators who edit the article) are showing up in wordpress as the article authors [via users > posts, NOT via Posts > article > authors].

    Please advise.

Did you update your WPTouch templates to include the Co-Authors Plus template tags?

I did not update the wptouch template…Not sure where to edit it to include the Co-Authors Plus template tags. Where/how should that be updated?

Regardless – it seems strange that admins that edit the articles are showing up [via users > posts] as authors.

Here’s a forum thread discussing how to add template tags to your theme. In WPTouch’s default single.php file, there’s a reference to the_author() which is what you’d want to edit. There may be other places you need to edit as well.

With regards to what you think is a bug in the admin, can you share a screenshot of what you see? Also, does the issue persist when you’ve deactivated all other plugins except for Co-Authors Plus?

I am having the same issue, unrelated to mobile. Editors (who are also authors of other posts) are being marked as authors even if they’re not added via the Co-Author field.

Have not tried deactivating all plugins. Will try that and report if findings are significant.

@zackseuberling Please let us know if the issue persists after you deactivate your other plugins. If it does, it would be great if you could include screenshots of what you’re doing.

Just wanted to chime in and say I was having the same issues on a blog I administer for a group of lawyers. My name was showing up as the author on some of the posts (but not all of them – only posts for the authors that had been co-authors on other posts before).

Anyway, I updated the WPTouch template tags in single.php and index.php as suggested and it fixed the problem perfectly!

One question though – when the WPTouch plugin gets updated, will it override these edits? i.e. will I have to go back and re-add the template tags again after installing the update?

robgolbeck has it correct. WPTouch template tags in theme files need to be updated to Co-Author tags. Yes, updating WPTouch will overwrite your changes. I solved this on a site by upgrading to WPTouch PRO, which allows child themes. I’ll now maintain custom WPTouch themes which will get re-installed after every update. This is still not ideal but a little cleaner.

    Thanks justinendler, good to know!

I’ve identified this as a bug and am working on a fix. Thanks for your patience.

Co-Authors Plus v2.6.2 should resolve this issue for you. You’ll need to go and hit “Update” for each post that’s incorrectly appearing in another users’ results.
