I have downloaded the plugin and I have edited the settings... now what? I don't see a shortcode and my images still display the same. I have selected LightBox Jquery, but also tried other options. I have searched the ReadMe files with no luck. How do you manage this gallery?

The fact that you don't see any noticeable difference in your galleries is a good thing. It means the plugin is working.
