I've created a separate field for an avatar upload. The Cimy_User_Extra_Fields folder is written 755 and the plugin says its writable, but avatar images aren't uploading.
The strange thing is that it worked the first time I tested it, but hasn't worked ever since I started testing changing the photo when logged in as a test user. Could it be that it only allows avatar uploads on registration, but not when editing the profile?

Do you use Theme My Login? There is a bug about it.

Do you know of any other plugins that work well with yours for doing the same thing? Really like how the registration page and login page are embedded in the site with Theme My Login.

Actually Theme My Login issue has been fixed in the development version, you can try downloading v2.3.2.1

Actually, I found that using the User Avatar plugin worked better as it has the ability to crop images which is essential.
Now, if there was only a way to make signup a two step process, THAT would make things perfect! ;)

Being able to split the process into two parts... signup, then login to fill in all of the additional fields. Makes it easier for people to complete the process without getting overwhelmed by too many details in the beginning. Plus ideally in a two step process, that means also being able to use something like Social Login which can connect with a facebook account.
So in other words... having all of your extra fields, but only in the profile area, not in the initial signup process.

Every field has an option where you can decide where ever you want it.
If profile only, profile + registration, registration only.
Maybe use the plug-in a bit?

Ohhh!!! THAT'S what that meant! I read that option, but somehow it didn't click in my mind that's what you meant. But when you said "profile only, profile + registration, registration only" then it clicked! THANK YOU SO MUCH! If I can make this work I'm going to make a donation!!
