Cimy Header Image Rotator
[resolved] Error on Upgrade (13 posts)

    I upgraded to the newest version of Cimy Header Image Rotator and am getting the following error:

    Fatal error: Call to a member function add_cap() on a non-object in /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/xxxxxx/xxxxxx/wp-content/plugins/cimy-header-image-rotator/cimy_header_image_rotator.php on line 226

    I am running on WordPress 3.0.4. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

    Thank you.

    Oh it works for me, but I will try to understand why for you doesn't work and will roll out v3.0.3 soon with a fix.

    In order to fix it I changed this:

    $wp_roles->add_cap('administrator', 'manage_cimy_image_rotator');

    To this:

    if(method_exists($wp_roles,'add_cap'))
    {
    $wp_roles->add_cap('administrator', 'manage_cimy_image_rotator');
    }

    Let me know if I need to do something differently.

    Thought I would add I am running into this problem as well. The error occurs when I attempt to go to my website from the subdomain address. If I go to http://www.badcharms.com/slblog all works well. When I try to use http://slblog.badcharms.com , I receive the add_cap fatal error.

    I'll wait to see opinions on how this adds to or causes the issue before I make Jonathan's edits.

    UPDATE: I made Jonathan's edits after all due to issues being able to log back into the site's dashboard. Still will be following this with interest, however.

    Deleting the broken upgraded version and installing a fresh copy worked for me.

    Update:

    Cancel that! As soon as I logged out it was broken again. The

    if(method_exists($wp_roles,'add_cap'))
{
$wp_roles->add_cap('administrator', 'manage_cimy_image_rotator');
}

    change mentioned above seems to have fixed it.

    I updated to V3.0.3 and no longer get an image at all, until I did this, it worked fine. Help! Please? It's a brilliant plugin when it works.

    Gresh:
    check if your images has some illegal characters in their names, like # or & or similar, then remove those characters and should work again.

    I introduced a check in v4.0.1 where you cannot upload such files.
