   Hey

   Since upgrading to WordPress 3.1 i've lost the ability to choose an author with a custom role in the drop list on the edit post page.

   I haven't installed any other plugins lately, WordPress 3.1 being the only major update.

   I have the same problem, i think.... i can't select an author at all, the drop down menu no longer exists and I am forced to use the default one.
