   I'd just like to ask you to confirm that the BPS plugin update is now (pretty much) fool-proof?

   For previous updates I used to:
   1. update the plugin
   2. update the .htaccess with automagic
   3. re-activate each of the security modes
   4. check that the site worked as expected.

   If I read your changelog correctly, now all I need to do is simply run the BPS plugin update via the WordPress update screen? No other clicks, or settings?

   If so, THANKS VERY MUCH! That will make things a lot easier for managing all my WP installations.

   Yep this is long overdue. ;) This was actually supposed to be released months ago, but other things kept coming up.

   This is the way it works. As long as you keep current with BPS version upgrades then yes everything will be updated automatically - no need to do anything else - just install the upgrade and go about your business.
