The "Enable the widget sidebar on pages" option throws an extra sidebar on my Buddypress pages below the main content. Otherwise, it works fine.
And, yes, I did follow EXACTLY the instructions for creating a BuddyPress 2011 child theme (I've done lots of WP development, so this wasn't a problem).
There is no such option as "Enable the widget sidebar on pages" in BuddyPress or BuddyPress Template Pack.
If you created a child theme of Twenty Eleven and you want to add BuddyPress support, then use this plugin and also try reading this tutorial:
