Getting updates sent from group activity stream (9 posts)

I just realized that the plugin only sends updates from Group Forums, and not from the group activity "Wall" at groups/mygroup/. Hoping I'm wrong here, but if I'm not, is there a hack to get updates sent from the activity stream? I don't use forums at all.

    As always, thanks.

I believe you have to be supersubscribed to get activity posts.

    'supersubscribed' is 'All Email'

Okay. So if I'm a user and unknowingly choose another option, I'm simply not going to get any updates? How would any user know to do that?

If you choose New Topics or Weekly Summary, you'll still get updates, but the updates will only be related to new forum topics. This works for groups where forums are central to group communication, but where users don't necessarily want to be bombarded with notifications of everything that happens.

Daily Digest and All Email will include information on activity items and comments.

In the future, we may consider making an option that allows admins to remove certain subscription options. But it won't happen until I get a paying gig where such work is necessary, or until I have a few hours to do the development pro bono.

In the meantime, if you're unhappy with the way it works, feel free to hack the plugin a bit, or to create a language file that explains the options better. If you write a patch, you're welcome to send that along to me.

Thanks for the response, and the work. If someone comes across this and can guide me towards removing all options except "Daily Digest" and "All Email", I'd be very grateful (I looked around until I found a lot of ass_clean and figured I'd wandered into the wrong part of town - then turned around). Otherwise I'll look forward to seeing how this develops over time.

Sorry to bump this when the question has been answered, but over the weeks I've realized that I really do need to be able to offer at least the "Daily Digest" and "All Email" to my group members (given, as I mentioned above, that I don't use forums with my groups). This may not be the place to ask, but if there's someone out there whom I could contract to tweak the plugin for me, could you please give me a way to get in touch with you? Thanks.
