I started getting this error after upgrading to the latest version of bp.
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

Some thoughts:

1. BP 1.2.8 is compatible with WP 3.1 above.

2. Remove RSS Feed Widget from theme’s sidebar.

3. Windows or Linux server?

4. Deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change to bp-default theme.

This error did start after recently updating my theme and did cease when I switched themes.

Glad you resolved it. Reminder to change status in right sidebar to “resolved”.
