Breadcrumb font color and underline (11 posts)

    I installed the plugin and is working fine, however I'd like to change the font color (is black and I prefer a light gray).

    I also want to take off the underline.

    I don't not about codes so I appreciate if you specify the code I need to modify and where I can find it.

    Thanks!

    Have you added the breadcrumb as per the instructions i.e.

    <div class="breadcrumbs">
        <?php if(function_exists('bcn_display'))
        {
            bcn_display();
        }?>
    </div>

    If so, then you'll just need to open up your theme's stylesheet and add a few things. Here's a few you could try:

    .breadcrumbs {
    	color: #999;
    }

    .breadcrumbs a {
    	text-decoration: none;
    }

    greencode, thanks for your answer.

    I dind´t add the breadcrumbs manually. When I installed the plugin it automatically show up on my site.

    I add the code you gave to me to the style.css file, however nothing changed....any other idea?

    Thanks!

    I do not include CSS styling in the plugin for many reasons. What you need to do is make sure your theme isn't already providing styling for it (which is doing what you don't want). The CSS greencode posted should work granted you used the suggested calling code. Verify with a tool like Firebug or Chrome's inspector and see what the code around the breadcrumb looks like and what CSS is actually being used for it.

    Thanks for your answer.

    I used fire bug and confirmed that the theme css is providing the style, because I put a different color to the font of the breadcrumbs and It changed all the links in the theme.

    Other thing I noticed on firebug is that the style sheet providing the codes, is name style3.css. however from the wordpress editor, I can access the sheet called style.css, where I pasted the code greencode gave me, however nothing changed on the breadcrumbs.

    Sorry but I'm amateur! Any idea on how I can finally change the style of the breadcrumb font?

    My site is under construction at the moment, but if you wish I'll put it on line for you to have a look!

    If you got the other two to work, then what you'd want to do is look at changing:

    .breadcrumbs {
    	color: #999;
    }

    to something like

    .breadcrumbs {
    	color: #999;
    	font-family: Georgia;
    }

    If you want to change the font family to Georgia. As you move to trying to make more CSS changes, I recommend you read up a little on CSS. It is how we style things on the Internet and a basic working knowledge of it will very beneficial for you (honestly, I need to read up on it again).

    Thanks for your response and advice mate!

    English is not my first language so maybe I wasn't clear enough.
    Firebug helped me notice that style3.css is providing color and style to breadcrumbs and link on my site.

    However from my wordpress editor, I see the style.css but not the style3.css. Nevertheless I paste greencode's code on style.css and nothing changed on my site. The breadcrumbs and link are still the same.

    I think grencode's code will work, if I paste it into the style3.css sheet however I can't access to it from wordpress.

    I'll try to read a bit o css! However in case you have any other idea on how to help me, I'll be thankful!

    Is the style3.css file located in the same directory as your theme, or is it in a child theme? Does your theme have an option for which style.css file it uses?

    I think is in a child theme.

    I'm using newscast theme from kriesi. It has 3 design options. However in the wordpress editor, I can see just one style sheet.

    The theme editor should show all of the .css files in the directory of the theme you are editing. You may want to make sure you are editing the child theme if that is what you are using.

    Just to add some experience on the case. I'd the same issue and I'm also using a theme from kreise. Have tried all you have described even with the most unpleasant CSS method - !important and still didn't get any changes. also tried to hard code the two files : breadcrumb_navxt_admin.php and breadcrumb_navxt_class.php and add the style there. Still didn't worked. So finally i did the simplest and most logical thing - went to settings and add to each post/category/page and etc. template

    breadcrumb_navxt_admin.php

    so the things now are like this:

    <a title="Go to the %title% tag archives." href="%link%">

    after an hour of trying different stuff now it is working : )
    hope this will help someone : )
    regards
