BP Group Hierarchy
[resolved] What about already-existing groups? (3 posts)

If I already have, say, 6 groups and then install this plugin... how do I say that Group 2 should be a child group of Group 1 and Group 4 a child of Group 6, etc.? It seemed to me upon first look that this plugin is wanting me to create a new "Group Member". Am I missing something?

    Thank you.

Existing groups will all be top-level groups when you first install it.

If you want to move an existing group, go to the Admin section for the Group. Select Group Hierarchy then choose the group you want it to be under, and select it in the Parent Group dropdown.

You can also use BP Group Organizer, which will let you drag and drop groups into the structure you want.

They work like a charm together. Thanks for informing me about that plugin. The only downside is that it changes the existing group's URL without a redirect -- /groups/existing-group now goes to /groups instead of /groups/parent-group/existing-group
