    Initially that was sounding really strange to me, since I was not seeing any weird character in those files, then I found that it depends on the text mode used by the editor used to view the file. The file is encoded in UTF-8 format, so if you open it in ASCII mode (or with an editor that does not support UTF-8), those weird characters appear.
    I will fix this in the next release. Thanks for your report.

    Not easy to spot, yes. I saw it by accident, when I opened the remote file on the server with WinSCP internal text-editor.
