I don't have any issue visiting my own site: http://www.kathyisawesome.com but i have some friends reporting that they cannot access it and only receive 403 errors. is this due to the plugin? or my hosting?

    cheers!

Most likely that is hosting unless you are getting site lockout warnings.

i am getting lots of site lockout warnings. i'm also using cloudflare, so all the locked out IP address point back to cloudflare and don't tell me much.

Ahh... That's a rough one. I would highly suggest turning off intrusion detection in your case until you can clean up all those 404's. Doing so should solve your problem.

    Same issue and same situation.
cloudflare pass the issue to the hosting.

And the website is accessible without any problem. NavigatorsInsurance.ca

exactly @coldad. cloudflare says it isn't them. i am not personally experiencing the problem, but friends are reporting back to me that they can't access it.

    @bit51 - what 404s? how do i clean up 404s?

    helgatheviking,
if you install Broken Link Checker, all your internal links and images will get the 403 error too.

i guess i had better skip that plugin then. but if broken links are the cause of the lockouts how am i supposed to find them if plugins designed to find them cause more 403 errors? it is a connundum

Take a look at the logs and it will show all the 404 errors.

As for 403s, I had the same issue with CloudFlare (as well as a few others) and have stopped using the product. I'm afraid I cannot give you any more than that to go on.

I have two types of websites. The only one that has Cloudflare "firewall" has this issue and the rest are working without 403 error.
I should ask them "again". I am worried to purchase Pro version from CloudFlare for my website: coldad.com

@bit51, At least thanks for your quick answer.

    Hi Coldad,

I know what you mean. I had a pro account with them but eventually had to get rid of them entirely due to 403 errors, numerous 404 errors, and a site slower than I had without it.

i am also getting WP Better Security to block IPs from Cloudflare. So basically there is nothing you can do? isn't there a way to add these IPs to a safe list?
