• Hi,

I used the feature that allows for renaming the wp-content directory. I changed it to “site-content”. Now I am trying to migrate the site to the actual domain and it is not working without the wp-content file (because it has been renamed). I am using backupbuddy to migrate but am also familiar with the manual migration methods. Just can’t get this to work and could use some help. Thanks.

  • The wp-content changes two lines in wp-config.php. Make sure the ones from your test site line up with new site (you will probably have to do this manually as I do not know of a plugin or other script that will do it for you).

Thanks. I found away to do it late last night. I use ManageWP (not a sales pitch) and tried his backup method rather than the usual BackupBuddy. For some reason the ManageWP method worked even with no wp-content directory. All I did was once it was migrated, went in to settings in the WP backend and changed the default upload folder to what I had renamed it as on the originating site install.

Thanks for the info. I’ll have to remember the ManageWP method (it is a great service and I have used it myself for some projects)
