This plugin is terrible. I installed it and boom, my entire site is down and my admin user is deleted. I didn’t even click anything!

Anyone know how to uninstall it and get my admin user back?! I can’t get anything to work, and I’d rather not resort to FTP as I’ve heard that borks it as well. We have no admin user now and the admin was set as the only one who could deal with plugins. FML.

  • It wouldn’t touch your admin user unless you told it to. It simply doesn’t access the users’ table at all except if you choose to rename the admin user and that doesn’t happen automatically. Have you tried the username you put in in the “Change Admin User” page? If something did go wrong (rare, but databases could crash, memory, etc) while changing the admin user you could restore from your backup and you will be fine.

I never changed the admin user… I installed the plugin and then all of a sudden nothing was working in the backend (well, the backend was still there but no changes I made would stick and I couldn’t deactivate the plugin) and the site’s pages all come up with a 404 Page Not Found error and the menu is gone. I rebooted my machine and now the admin login is an “Invalid username”. I’ve got our IT guy restoring from our latest backup which was at the beginning of the week, and we’d made quite a bit of changes since then… but oh well.

I had a similar experience yesterday and tracked it down to the database table prefix being changed on the database, but not in the wp-config.php file. It remained as “wp_” – which broke my site temporarily. The solution: Log in to your database as the admin, find what the new table name prefix is, and then update your wp-config.php to match. Took about 5 minutes, and all is running smoothly again. I too, pondered doing a full restore. Luckily I sorted out what the underlying problem was…

Hey, thanks nursebob. Unfortunately, the plugin had deleted all of our admin users… at least, trying to log in with any of them came back with an “Invalid User” response. We’ve rolled back to our backup and all is well (except for the week’s worth of content lost).
