First of all make sure you are using this plugin on WordPress based installation and not on the bbPress Stand-alone script. This plugin is for the bbPress plugin for WordPress.

If you are on WP, then activate the plugin, then in the front-end user edit page(forums) you can see a textarea below user Description. Fill in your signature there and save and will come up in topics and replies!

Let me know whether you are clear about it.

Yes I’m using the bbPress plugin, no problem there.

I don’t understand, what is “the front end user edit page”? I’ve gone into the normal “edit user” page in the admin area and I see the description, but there is no box for signature.

    Thanks,

The plugin doesnt add signature option in the user edit at admin page.
    Go to the forums.
Click on the topic/forum/reply author link. This will take you to the respective authors profile.
If you have permissions to edit the user(means if it is your profile), you’ll see a edit link near the name. Click the edit link, it’ll take you to front-end edit page.

the url will look somewhat like this your-domain/?bbp_user=ID&edit=1
where ID is the user id. Replace it with your user id.

Aha! OK I was only viewing the profile, not editing it. Now I get it, and the plugin is working well. Thanks for this, I really needed this feature!

Nice to know you liked it. Keep the feedbacks coming.

    Had the same confusion myself.

We can blame the little edit link on this. πŸ™‚

BTW, the plugin is working great.

Great plugin, as this functionality should be included in any forum.

Unfortuneately, I can’t get to the edit form. I’m using BuddyPress along with bbPress 2.0-RC-4 plugins, with BuddyPress forums disabled.

When I attempt to edit a profile (mine, admin) it seems buddypress takes over and there is no area to add the signature.

Does this plugin play nicely with BuddyPress?

Thanks again for a great plugin, I look forward to your prompt response.

Doesn’t seem to work with latest stable version of bbPress 2.0.

It seems to work fine for me.

It seems to work fine for me.

Could you put up some screen shots of where you go to edit/add the signature? I can find it anywhere.

    I followed your instructions here:

Click on the topic/forum/reply author link. This will take you to the respective authors profile.
If you have permissions to edit the user(means if it is your profile), you’ll see a edit link near the name. Click the edit link, it’ll take you to front-end edit page.

the url will look somewhat like this your-domain/?bbp_user=ID&edit=1
where ID is the user id. Replace it with your user id.

I couldn’t find anywhere to edit/add the signature. Sorry I just couldn’t spend much time trying to find where to add the signature. Clicking on the author link (me as the author) it just goes to a blank page. Is there something on the backend that I need to do?

The highlighted link should redirect to your profile, which is in the next SC

click on the edit link and then you’ll get your profile edit page where you can update your name, website links, contact info, bio and all.. Below bio, you’ll have signature field.
    Hope that helps.

    Yes this helps…Thanks!

@travishill “Does this plugin play nicely with BuddyPress?”

I didn’t see an answer to this question, but personally I would have to say NO. I have buddypress installed and use a bbpress install for my mainforum. When you click the profile link it goes to the buddypress profile (as it should). So you do not get the default bbpress profile, so no way to see the signature box for input.

    That’s been my experience anyway.

If anyone knows how to get a signature on a bbpress + buddypress dual installation, please let us know. It would be a big help.
