[resolved] Wrong security-token from Dropbox (15 posts)

    Hi,

    I've got a problem with this plugin. Everytime I want to create a new job, I can't authorize BackWPup to connect to Dropbox. I am logged in to Dropbox web interface, can upload, download, everything is fine. But when I click on "Authentication" in BackWPup, there is an error stating, that a wrong token was given by Dropbox.

    I have a functional backup with upload to Dropbox, but this job was created before this issue came up.

    Thanks in advance.

    Can't tell you in detail but it's the most recent version you can get.

    @pealo86:
    No, I don't get a message like yours. My message is simply "Falschen Token für die Dropbox-Authentifizierung erhalten!", which means something like "Got wrong token for authentification at Dropbox".

    @Daniel:
    Perhaps it's important to say, that I'm managing more than only one backup-job. My first backup-job is running fine but a second one runs into that error mentioned above.
    I uploaded all files of the plugin manually via FTP once again to get rid of some potential misconfiguration in the files. But still no success...

    Just for tracking:

    Cause for those problems were some disabled plugins, which interfered with BackWPup. After uninstalling all unneeded plugins (some of them were using OAuth as well, but all of them were disabled) BackWPup started working like a charm again.

    Thanks to Daniel :)

    I have the same problem.

    Wrong Token for Dropbox authentication received!

    Everything in the job is default setting.

    I have all other plugins in latest versions. No disabled plugins at all, only those I need.

    This is the info from the job listing:

    DB Size: 6.69 MB
    Files Size: 383.58 MB

    Log has nothing. Just shows me the black terminal type window with 0% below.

    any ideas?

    Hi pkiula,

    do you use anything in your plugins that uses OAuth? i.e. Twitter-plugins, other Dropbox-related plugins, ... . Every plugin which needs an authentication but does not ask for your username and password and leading you to a "Do you really want to give access to XXX"-page uses OAuth for sure.

    Additionally my last information is, that dropbox allows uploads 200MB max. via API.

    It may be 200MB thing. That makes it useless. Very disappointing.

    So, if not Dropbox, I am also using the Amazon S3 thing, but that doesn't upload either. No error there, just no files uploaded.

    Where can I find more info?

    My second post was just for information. In case, there is an API error in the log, stating the exceeded quota of uploads. But your issue is another one.
    Perhaps you can exclude some folders: In my case I excluded all unused theme-directories, my log-files and -don't laugh- my backup-folder (not the one used by BackWPup) as well. I think, 200 MB is enough to get a working backup.

    But all of this doesn't solve your problem. I hope Daniel has an idea.

    Hello, DropBox API lets only upload 150MB.

    If a job not working with 0% it is most that the server can not self resolve it's own host correctly. the server call http://domian.xx/plugindir/.... if this fails than mostly cames that with 0%.

    Thanks Daniel.

    The 150MB limit from Dropbox is utterly useless. So I moved on.

    I'm now trying the S3 platform. Does Amazon have some issues too? I am getting problem with that as mentioned in this thread.

    Of the ten or so backup plugins and services I have tried, including VaultPress etc, I absolutely love your plugin and its sensible interface. Sure hope I can get it working with S3.

    Thanks.

    S3 have limit in GB range and is the best working destination.
