AVH First Defense Against Spam
[resolved] Android App Comment Reply Blocked by AVH (7 posts)

Hi, I tried replying to a blog comment through the android app function and got an error of "could not connect". I finally traced it down to AVH with a vanilla install, default theme and no other plugins installed.

Is there any way to use the HTTP Authentication or some other method to determine that I am a real person when in the official WP App on my android device?

I love this plugin, but I'm looking at doing a blog that will be heavy on remote posting and commenting from locations out in the field and would like to be able to do it from in app.

The plugin only checks on IP address, so not sure why you got a "could not connect"

Did the emails say anything which party blocked your comment?

Not sure what you mean about emails...

I attempted to respond to comments on MY OWN blog through the official WordPress Android app. With AVH installed I get a simple flash of an error message stating that the app 'could not connect' and with it uninstalled I get the comment posted to the blog.

There are no emails or other parties involved.

I'm having the same issue. I can connect via the android app to edit posts and approve comments, but when I try to reply to a comment I get "could not connect". If I disable AVH, the reply goes through.

Any thoughts on how to remedy this?

Are you trying to reply through the admin interface or regular site?

    PeterVanderdoes,

I used the Android app for WP. Its not an issue replying to comments at a desktop via the admin panel. The issue appears to be with remote replies via the app. I've not tested it in the mobile version of the admin backend, mostly because doing anything in the mobile version of the backend is nearly impossible.

I concur and I still have the issue. I have had to abandon the use of AVH on my blogs because being able to comment from the Android App is critical to my workflow.
