Auto Submenu
Nice Idea, but Didn't Work for Me (11 posts)

I like this idea, but it didn't work for me. The child page didn't show up as a sub menu for the parent page. Tried it on a few different parent pages (each was in a custom menu).

Currently, Auto Submenu only adds new child pages to menus that have the "Automatically add new top-level pages" option enabled. That seemed logical behavior, but I apologize for not properly documenting that.

Also, please note that this plugin will not do anything with existing child pages. Auto Submenu will only add an item to your custom menu when a new child page is published.

    Hi jamocreations,
thanks for your reply! So I have to look for an other solution, because want to use the function on different menus. But there I can´t use "Automatically add new top-level pages" option enabled.
    Greetings

OK, it worked now. Thanks a lot.

I wonder if there is some code you could put in your functions file to automatically check that when a new menu is created.

Of course it would be nice to have an option in the plugin for that -- the ability to automatically make that checked (ON) or not checked (OFF).

    Hi guys,

I've ensured that the "Automatically add new top-level pages" option is enabled. However, it doesn't work for me. I've tried it on pages and categories. I add the top level (parent page or category) in hope that it will add its children. However it doesn't work.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Keenuo,

Auto Submenu works with pages, not with categories. Also, please note that this plugin will not do anything with existing child pages. Auto Submenu will only add an item to your custom menu when a new child page is published.
