    Hopefully I've managed to fix all errors in with version 0.7.2... Please let me know if you still experience any errors.

    Great plugin! Is there any way to have it call the pic from the user's profile page instead of their gravatar? If not this would be a great option to add to a future update. And also does anyone know of something that would be capable of doing that?

    @johnny_sozo: yes, you can use a different plugin like the UserPhoto plugin to overwrite the user avatar with an uploaded pic.

    Have a look at the faq question "Can I upload custom pictures for users?" and my earlier post on the subject.

    On my site, holidayfu.com, the page doesn't stop loading since installing author avatars - it continues to read gravatar.com. Any idea why? I'm not sure if any code I can provide would help, but let me know if there is and I'll post it.

    Apologies. This problem might have been with gravatar.com, or with my Chinese internet connection. The site is now working perfectly. Thank you for a very useful plugin!

    Hi! Thanks for great plugin, I just updated to 0.7.3 but it's little bit buggy.

    First of all, widget:
    I checked "Link usert to author's page", but it's still linking to user's website.

    Than I look in the on html code of generated widget (just part of code, which user has "webpage" in profile):

    <div class="author-list">
    ...
    <div class="user">
       <a href="http://www.russianshanghai.com/author/mayuxi/"><span class="avatar"></span></a><a href="http://site.com/" rel="external nofollow" title="Visit Tony Ma’s website" class="snap_noshots"><img src="/avatars/ma.jpg" class="avatar avatar-65 avatar-default" alt="Tony Ma" title="Tony Ma" width="65" height="65"></a></div>
    ...

    Please help to solve my problem. Thanks!

    @mayuxi: the code looks like your get_avatar() function is modified/implemented by a plugin which automatically wraps the image with a link to the user's website.

    Try disabling any avatar-related plugins if you haven't already done so. Looking at russianshanghai.com the list in the bottom right corner of the page seems to be working as expected at the moment?

    Hello,
    nice plugin. A quick question: I'd like to add a random users widget in my sidebar. Apart from styling (I did not work it out still), I've changed the "author" slug to "people": how do i drive the plugin to point to the correct path?

    thanks in advance for some support,
    ciao

    neuville: the plugin uses the wordpress function get_author_posts_url() to retrieve the url. That function itself uses wordpress' WP_rewrite class to build the author permalink structure. As long as your modifications don't break or circumvent the functionality of that class it should all still work as it's supposed to... What exactly have you done to change the author slug?

    Hello bforchhammer,
    thanks for your reply; I just installed the WP htaccess control that gives the function to change the author slug.

    I've just solved this single issue calling users through template tags (using user_meta custom queries), but the website became suddenly slow and sometimes unresponsive when viewing user profiles... I've to work it out

    check it out at adverbox.com/people if you want to give a look

    Hello there,
    I was wondering if you plan on allowing the grouping of author avatars by groups instead of blogs or as an additional choice.

    The site I'm working on won't have a lot of blogs, just ones necessary for our internal interests. The site is more built around the buddypress part of groups, members etc. I need to list personnel based on the group they belong to.
    Is this possible? Maybe a seperate plugin for "Group Member Avatars".

    Thanks much!

    @dcservices: thanks for the suggestions, integrating the plugin with buddypress groups sounds like a good idea.

    I have no idea how easy or hard that's going to be at this point but I'll have a look... If anyone else wants to have a go at it I'm happy to provide support and help with integration. ;-)

    Hi there,
    i installed the plugin and works like a charm. I want to display the avatars side by side but can't figure out how. I read this post (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/275007) but still no go.

    Can you please help or give me a hint. My site URL => http://www.wokar.net/blog

    Thanks a lot for the plugin!

    @thai916: it looks like you set both the width of the .author-list container and the single users to 128px. Try removing the statement "width:128px;" from this rule: .multiwidget_author_avatars .author-list.

    Also, it would be better if you'd just but the additional width statements into your theme's style.css... then you can install plugin updates without having to worry about lossing your adjustments.

    hi bforchhammer,
    thank you for the prompt reply. i removed those lines (width:128px) but still no go. I actually added those lines since I was not able to get the avatars aligned horizontally.
    Another issie is that if I reduce the size of the avatars from the widget, the avatars show broken image. i dont know if that is the proper way to say it..

    I think you missunderstood; I ment that you should only remove the width statement from the list container (.author-list). Put it back onto .user so that the individual users are all the same size.

    Not sure what you mean by "broken image"?

    Hi there, I put this php code ` <?php require_once(ABSPATH . PLUGINDIR . '/author-avatars/lib/UserList.class.php' );
    $userlist = new UserList();
    $userlist->hiddenusers = array('admin');
    $userlist->roles = array('Administrator', 'Editor', 'Author');
    $userlist->link_to_authorpage = true;
    $userlist->show_name = false;
    $userlist->avatar_size = 20;
    $userlist->limit = 30;
    $userlist->order = 'display_name';
    $userlist->output();
    ?>`

    directly into my index file where I want it but it says "No users found." Works fine as a widget. But not directly using code. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

    Thanks

    @fnlocal: looks ok to me, not sure why you don't get any users back; try removing roles and hiddenusers and see if you get something then...

    Also, the line $userlist->link_to_authorpage = true; does not work anymore; instead you have to use this statement now:
    $userlist->user_link = 'authorpage';
    (or you just leave it out completely because that is the default value anyway).

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    I removed roles & hiddenusers & userlist lines but still "no users found"

    also tried it higher up on the index page

    something to do with the infamous loop? I don't understand why it'll work as a widget but not independently.

    any more ideas?

    It seems there have been no takers. I'm not a programmer but real good at cut and paste... If you would give me a place to start I'll go in and fiddle around. It seem to me maybe start with "UserListclass.php
    and instead of creating a new plugin just adding the functions?

    Thanks again

    @dcservices: I have created a new post with some notes and instructions. It does definitely make sense to add them to the plugin, we don't need yet another new one in the repository.

    Let's continue discussions on this topic here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/290078?replies=1

    Hi and thanks for the reply. I found two bugs and wrote about them here - http://wordpress.org/support/topic/309878.

    First bug - duplicated alt atribute. Fixed by myself.
    Second bug is incompatibility with Add Local Avatar plugin. But your plugin worked perfect before I upgraded it to 0.7.4.

    Thanks for any solution, that you can give me.
