Hi Ben: Sorry to hit you with simultaneous posts. You have a wonderful plugin and it is the star of my alpha version website. Anyway, my question is: Do you know of any strategies to make the author avatars link to an author bio page within the site?

Yes, you can add an author template to your theme; the codex page has an example template file for it. Biographic information can be added to individual users (on their profile page in the admin area) and can then be displayed on those author pages; by default they only list all articles posted by an author.

If you want to use html in the biography check out Weasel's HTML Bios.

Thanks Ben. So if I understand you, after the author template is added, when I click on an author avatar, the author's biography will show up on top of his page and his posts will be listed below (instead of just his posts - as it is now)? That would be great!

Ben, have you ever thought of making that an option in plugin menu? I don't know how hard it would be to do but it seems like it might very useful to many of your plugin users.

Also, I've never seen any donation solicitations from you, like most of the other plugins. Your plugin is one of the most useful to my site so it feels odd that I have given to some of the others but not you. Maybe you're extremely rich (may be you're wealthy European nobility :-)) Check the BFA forum, they even engender a little competition by creating titles and privileges based on donor level.

If you copy the code from the template example you are going to get a section on top with the headline "About" and then a definition list with items "Website" and "Profile", followed by the author's posts.

Ben, have you ever thought of making that an option in plugin menu?

We have thought about adding things like that to the plugin in the past, but the way wordpress is built author templates are something that just belongs into a theme and not a plugin. Themes allow total freedom of what and how you'd like to display things, a plugin would have to restrict that. And many themes come with author templates already anyway (afaik).

Maybe you're extremely rich (may be you're wealthy European nobility :-))

Haha, more the opposite: I'm a poor computer science student who just likes software development and does this "for fun" ;-) Donations are always welcome.

Hi Ben: The afaik site didn't lead me to a theme, per se. What are some other themes (they don't have to be free) that come with author pages built-in. BTW, I created an author.php file and now have a rudimentary author page but I'd like to see some themes with fancier author pages built-in.

Hm, I didn't think it was different. I've used my german paypal account on US paypal...

Hm, can't think of any great examples but theming frameworks like thematic or hybrid have rudimentary author page support; not much better than what you already have probably...

PS: afaik = as far as I know ;-)
