[Plugin: Amazon Link] International support for http://www.amazon.it?
-
Hello,
Thank you for the very nice plugin.
Is there any chance to add international support for http://www.amazon.it as well?
Thank you again!

Hi,
There _is_ partial support for http://www.amazon.it, in that it supports the affiliate program for http://www.amazon.it. However there is currently no ‘Amazon Web Service’ support (ecs.amazonaws.it does not exist yet), so product searches do not work.
I can force it to do searches at ecs.amazonaws.com if ‘.it’ or ‘.cn’ is selected as the default locale? However all responses would be in US english and prices in dollars.
I’ll put this in the next version.

Yes, I read on the aws forums (forums.aws.amazon.com) that api support should come soon.
Perhaps it would not be too useful to have your plugin working with a different currency in the meanwhile. For now I am happy to use it “just” for the affiliation part.
Thank you again for the nice plugin!
George
Amazon are now providing support for the .it and .cn (Italy and China) locales, so from version 2.0.3 the plugin fully supports both .it & .cn.
Thank you so much!
I am an amazon.it affiliate, too. I just upgraded the plugin and trying to add links and a carousel, with no success.
Links work but can’t get pictures right. The carousel doesn’t even show.
Which are the exact steps to configure the plugin and add working links for the Italian affiliate program?Okay, I managed to have images shown by correctly adding AWS keys. However the carousel still doesn’t show up.
I also have another question. In my affiliate links I don’t only use the affiliate tag, but also many different tracking IDs. To specify different tracking IDs do I have to create a new template for each using the TEXT field?Hi,
You can manually set the affiliate Id in each shortcode by adding ‘tag_it=my_tracking_id’, this mught do what you want?
If you explain a bit more about how you would like it to work, I could add a new feature in the next version.

This is a link with a tracking ID, foto0f-21:
http://www.amazon.it/gp/product/8850328095/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=foto0f-21&linkCode=as2&camp=3370&creative=24114&creativeASIN=8850328095
This is another link with another tracking id, fcfbannersidebar-21:
http://www.amazon.it/gp/product/8850328095/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=fcfbannersidebar-21&linkCode=as2&camp=3370&creative=24114&creativeASIN=8850328095I’d like to be able to use the same template changing onlt the tracking ID. It would be awesome if I could choose a template an ASIN and a tracking ID from a dropdown menu and have the link with the correct tracking ID inserted.
In the settings page I could set it up so that you can add several sets of tracking ids, with user defined names e.g.
Default => tag_uk = id1uk-21, tag_us = id1us-20, tag_it = id1it-21, etc.
Photos => tag_uk = id2uk-21, tag_us = id2us-20, tag_it = id2it-21, etc.
Then on the insert link helper window have a drop down list that you can chose the set of tracking IDs to use Default, Photos, Banners, etc.
I could also add options so that certain sets of ids are used by default depending on the category of the post/page? Or perhaps based on a meta data element stored in the post/page.
Might take a while to implement this though!

Ok, thank you.
Doesn’t the API allow to retrieve all the tracking IDs associated to an affiliate tag?I think that solution would be easier to implement.
I don’t think the AWS API is able to retrieve the affiliate tags. I doubt it will ever be able to retrieve ones from more than one locale even if/when it does. So I’ll probably have to implement something.
Only just discovered tracking ID’s myself, so keen to put something in to support them.
