All-in-One Event Calendar
Event categories/colors disappearing (5 posts)

So, I set the calendar up on our website earlier this week (http://apiarymagazine.com/calendar-2) & it looked great- everything exported from our Google Calendar site perfectly. I created approx. 20 color-coded event categories to use on our calendar & everything appeared to be working.

But when I checked the site later, all of the event categories had been removed from the events. When I check the 'Event Categories' page on WP, all of the categories have '0' next to them, whereas previously each one had events attached to it. I tried re-assigning categories numerous times, & each time, they vanish hours later.

Does this issue sound familiar to anyone, & is there any way to solve it? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a bug, I will investigate.
You can apply the following temporary solution:
Once you import the feed with assigned categories, delete the feed from the settings page. This way, your feed will not be updated but the categories will be preserved.

I can report having the same bug. It seems that every time the Calendar Feed is refreshed, all the categories are removed.

Has there been any updates on this?

My calendar is subscribed to a Google Calendar using the following public iCal feed:

    Hi nathanrjones,

Unfortunately this is normal and expected behaviour. When calendar feeds are refreshed (either automatically or manually), they are all deleted and replaced, which explains why the tag/category information is lost.

As described by Yani, the best solution is to delete the feed (after you have imported the events, but when prompted choose NOT to delete the events.) The downside, however, is that the feed will not be importing new events... We recognize that the ideal scenario would be for feeds to NOT delete tag/category information, and the dev team has this on their list of items to look into.
