[Plugin: Advanced Excerpt] Count spaces as characters?

Is there a way to set Advanced Excerpt so it counts spaces as characters?

I need to display excerpts that are exactly 50 characters long, but the presence of spaces means that an excerpt with a lot of short words forces a second line and ruins the visual effect I’m going for.
