Advanced Access Manager
[resolved] Overrides not working for Media Library (4 posts)

I'm trying to make it so that Contributors can edit/delete their own media files. So, under Capabilities, I gave them Level 2, 3, 4 to make them an Author, but my contributors still cannot edit/delete their own media files (my authors can though).

The upload files option is working though, so they can upload, just not edit/delete their own media.

    Hi artychan,
I guess with WordPress you have to suffer more, than just add Level 2,3 and 4 :D
I'm not sure what capabilities you have to add to Contributor but I have some plans to implement functionality to for with Media. This may come in two or three releases.

    Regards,
    Vasyl

I thought the whole point of the Levels capabilities at the bottom was to give the group of users (or specific user) the same capabilities as a specific role, so that if I give a user Level 0-6 then they become an editor regardless of what role I actually assigned them.

Okay, so I think I figured out the problem. Editing the Media Library is tied to editing posts.

So, even if I give someone 'Author' level access, if they cannot edit posts, then they also cannot edit media. I have no idea why WordPress does this, but that seems to be the root of the problem.
