Used to use the button but recent update induced a fatal error removing complete functionality of the sidebar, including log-in admin capability. Had to remove the plug-in.

Did you have the button hard-coded into your theme?
If so, the latest release (version .9.9.1) should resolve the critical issue as further described here.
