[resolved] [Plugin: AddToAny: Share/Bookmark/Email Buttons] Facebook writing the Content of my Site? (8 posts)

    Dear AddToAny Support,

    I'm trying to get the AddToAny's Facebook Share/Save button to not only write the site's title, but also its content. But for some reason, it's not writing the site's content. Instead it's actually writing the top paragraph of a post posted on my main page?

    If this info helps any, see the AddToAny's button on the right corner of the topbar on the main page of the following site:

    Hope to get this resolved. I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

    You should remove the generic AddToAny code and install the AddToAny WordPress plugin, which will make it all work very automatically.

    You can install AddToAny by going to here on your site and searching for "addtoany" (without the quotes).

    I was aware of the plugin and even tried experimenting with it. However, currently have it deactivated cause I'm not sure I had more leeway over the position of the button on a page?

    For instance, will I be able to have it positioned in the topbar on my page like the way I currently have the generic AddToAny button installed?

    Please advise. I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

    Yep, positioning is fairly easy. Check out "How can I add both the button and the individual icons to another area of my theme?" in the FAQ.

    The default placement settings can be disabled in Settings > Share/Save Buttons.

    Hi,

    Ok, here's the update.

    First, I added the plugin and also used the following codes for the positioning and title:

    <?php if( function_exists('ADDTOANY_SHARE_SAVE_BUTTON') ) {
    ADDTOANY_SHARE_SAVE_BUTTON( array("linkname" => "Example Page", "linkurl" => "http://example.com/page.html") );
    } ?>

    However, I still got the following, which you see is the top paragragh of the 3rd post of the main page (i.e. with some of it commented out as to the validity of post):

    xxxxxxxxxx.com
    http://www.xxxxxxxxxx.com/

    Welcome to XXXXXXXXXXX, The Worlds Most Powerful XXXXXXXXXXX. With several different kinds of marketing devices that can drive thousands of top quality visitors to your sites.

    I then tried to see if the answer to the following "Why doesn't Facebook use the page title and how can I set the image Facebook uses?" would help.

    However, when I clicked on the "Facebook's specification" link, all it did was to take me to the following page:

    http://developers.facebook.com/search?q=Facebook_Share/Specifying_Meta_Tags

    And when I clicked on the "Facebook Share/Specifying Meta Tags" link on the above page, it kept taking me back to the same page?

    And then I tried installing the "All in One SEO Pack" plugin. And that even though I see that it did add some meta tags, I'm still getting the following:

    xxxxxxxxxx.com
    http://www.xxxxxxxxxx.com/

    Welcome to XXXXXXXXXXX, The Worlds Most Powerful XXXXXXXXXXX. With several different kinds of marketing devices that can drive thousands of top quality visitors to your sites.

    Thus where should I go from here? Been trying to get rid of the "Welcome to XXXXXXXXXXX, The Worlds Most Powerful...." comments for some time.

    I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

    Just wanted to point out more thing. I did use my own name and url in the following code:

    <?php if( function_exists('ADDTOANY_SHARE_SAVE_BUTTON') ) {
    ADDTOANY_SHARE_SAVE_BUTTON( array("linkname" => "Example Page", "linkurl" => "http://example.com/page.html") );
    } ?>

    Use Facebook's linter tool to help diagnose and see exactly how Facebook is viewing your page:
    http://developers.facebook.com/tools/lint

    FYI it refreshes their cache of your page just by using the tool, so if you make changes, try the tool again and it should see the latest changes.
