[Plugin: Add to Any: Share/Bookmark/Email Button] Crisper Button Graphics? (9 posts)

    Hi,

Great plugin! The only thing that distracts me is that the button that is embeddes is not very crisp (the buttons have a blurry hazy look to them, probably due to image compression) which contrasts against my site graphics/theme. Is there any chance you could improve the quality of the button images for your next release?

Thanks and keep up the great work.

    Cheers

You are totally welcome to contribute if you can improve the images. :) We refine them every once in a while, but perfect buttons are not a priority right now. ;)

By the way, you can always use a custom button of your own in Settings > Share/Save Buttons.

Also feel free to check out others' AddToAny buttons in the Flickr pool (lossy, unsightly JPEG formats due to Flickr, but a few have links to their PNG counterparts in their Flickr description!).

    Thanks for the suggestion!

Lol, I totally understand :). Thanks for the Flickr link and the suggestion about custom buttons. That is perfect for me.

    Cheers

After looking at things, it looks like the images themselves are fine. For some reason it looks like the insertion code is skewing the image/resizing it which is possibly leading to compression artifacts. The images on Flickr look great (as well as on my local viewer on the computer), but when I link to it, it looks blurry on the page. Do you have any thoughts/suggestions about this?

Hmmm... I'd have to see the page to troubleshoot. Can you provide a link, or if you'd prefer to email, feel free. pat at addtoany

    Sure. The website is:
    http://www.sudeepmandal.com/non-co2-non-excel-low-tech-planted-tanks-guide-blog/
The actual image I am using (specifying the URL in the plugin options):
    http://www.sudeepmandal.com/images/ShareSave/ShareSave2.png

As you can see the direct image link looks nice and sharp. It might be my theme...although I don't know what would cause it if it is indeed my theme.

    Cheers

From what I can tell the only difference is the different background colors. The button's background color is white whereas your theme's background color is off-white.

If you switch over to one of the default AddToAny buttons, the background should be transparent.

Let me know if you're seeing something different... and if so, what browser!?

    Hey,

Sorry, never mind. I think my Firefox for whatever reason is acting a little quirky. (3.1 beta 3). I opened the URL in Chrome and the button renders fine. Maybe it isn't a native issue with FF either but some plugin add-on that is causing a problem. I'll test it out to figure it out. Sorry about wasting your time on this. Thanks a ton! =)

    Cheers

Ah, interesting. I know that 3.5 Beta 4 was released recently. Maybe that will fix it.

    No worries. :)
