A few bugs and requests related to the "Like" button and av (7 posts)

    Hi,

First allow me to say how great the plugin is, the automatic posting of links to FB is already a huge help!

I would however like to signal a few bugs or feature requests if I may:

    - When I add a "Like" button, I see always the same number everywhere instead of the number of people liking an article. This is weird. Is there a way to have the number of people liking a given post only?

    - I like the possibility of having a list of people liking a given link, but it's rather ugly to have a list of names, one per line. Is it possible to style that?

    - When I integrate FB comments into WP, the FB avatars are too small for my gravatar boxes. Would there be a way to stretch them or at least center them in the box?

May I ask what WP threaded comments look like in FB when WP comments are postes to FB?

    Thanks for all!

Did you set the 'Link to' option? If so, try to make it blank. Did you enabled the Open Graph Protocol? If not, try enabling it. None of these: please send me the debug information (see last question of the FAQ) and a link with an example post/page.

    - I like the possibility of having a list of people liking a given link, but it's rather ugly to have a list of names, one per line. Is it possible to style that?

If you mean the liker names (option 'Show likers below the post text'): each name is contained in a span element with the class 'al2fb_liked' and all names are contained in a div with the class 'al2fb_likers', so you should be able to style it the way you like. If you mean something else, please explain. Facebook elements, like the like and send button are styled by Facebook and can not be changed.

    - When I integrate FB comments into WP, the FB avatars are too small for my gravatar boxes. Would there be a way to stretch them or at least center them in the box?

I would like to see an example of this. You could try to change 'normal' to 'large' on line 3046 of the add-link-to-facebook-class.php file. Please let me know if this improved things.

Thanks for the help and the input; I will try this and build screenshots and debug info for your perusal.

    Okay, tried things around:

    - With a blank "link to" option, the button indeed does not send a random number. However it now shows "be the first of your friends to like that" instead of the correct count of likers as shown by the plugin.

    - For the avatars size check for instance

I tried changing from normal to large, to no avail.

    - Would you have an example as to how do WP threaded comments look like when exported to FB? Is there a way to identify who replies to who? I would like to know before activating the option and spamming my subscribers :)

    Thanks :)

Are you sure the post/page on which the button is shown has likers? If you leave the Link to option blank, the default URL to be liked is the URL of the post/page.

I am afraid the Facebook avatars are just not larger than this. Your theme assumes a certain avatar size, looking at the gray borders. The only way to solve this, is to change the styling of your theme, like as you suggested yourself, centering the avatar.

Facebook does not have threaded comments, so the comments will appear in chronological order.

    Thanks for the quick answers!

Yup, there are likers for the articles - they liked it on my wall, and it doesn't seem to reflect on the likers'count; strangely enough, the likers names are all correct.

Thanks for your answer on the avatar's sizes. I'll see what I can come up with :)

As for the threaded comments, may I suggest in a future update that a comment integrates in its Facebook text who it responds to, the way Wordbooker does it? Like: "In reply to NAME: ..."
    That would be awesome.

    You are welcome.

Then Facebook does something not quite right. If the URL is okay, one of the few thing we can control, the rest is up to Facebook. Maybe you can manually add a Facebook like button and see if you have the same problem, to be sure. The code from the plugin should be the same, however.

    That would be awesome.

I will put it in the requested features list.
