• Its a great plugin, but it really needs to have a setting where you can change the default role after approval. As it is, everyone’s a subscriber. If you’re doing a private blog (the whole point of this) you probably want people to have a contributor or author role. Right now, you have to go and manually change their role, after approving them. A setting in the plugin would really enhance the usability of this plugin.

  • I’m using version 2.0 beta 1 and it does work like you describe above. You must make sure in the General setting that you have it set so that users can register themselves, and give the default roll there as “Author”.

    Once they register and you approve they will be authors. If you register for them via the Add User setting behind the scenes, make sure you change their roll to “Unapproved”. You’ll still need to approve them, but when you do, they will be an Author.
