Plug-ins not working (6 posts)

Moving blog from Typepad to WordPress. Site hosted on Godaddy server. Installed WordPress on domain orange-envelopes.com/blog, launched WordPress and imported Typepad posts without a problem.

The site is active and viewable, but when I tried to activate plug-ins, they did not work - specifically tried three different Twitter plug-ins. None would install.

The WordPress program and components are all viewable when I connect via FTP at /orange-envelopes.com/blog/wpadmin, but when I try to install the plug-ins, I get a message that the plug in file should be located in my
    /home/content/j/h/e/jheaney/html/blog/wp-content/plug-ins directory
I have no idea where this directory name is coming from. Is this the problem? Where does WordPress tell itself to find themes, plugins, etc?

Is your theme set up for widgets - or indeed workable with 2.7? Check the theme authors site - or the readme file that the theme download should have contained.

    Hi,

It seems that you have only import blog posts not the plugins..so please reinstall all the plugins into your new server blog. You can find the folder plugins in wp-contents folder of your blog folder.

Also check permissions for the wordpress folder.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

plug-ins still not working - after installation, even without error message, they do not appear in the Settings menu to modify and do not appear on the blog page.

I uninstalled WP and reinstalled and still get the same message to " To manually install a plugin you generally just need to upload the plugin file into your /home/content/j/h/e/jheaney/html/blog/wp-content/plugins"

I have no idea where that directory location is coming from. It makes no sense at all. My plugins are all located in /orange-envelopes.com/blog/wp-content/plugins

Any idea why WP is looking for a different directory?
