• Hi –

I’ve been having this problem pretty consistently for a while now. Each time I try to load a plug-in from the dashboard, it gets hung up.

I know I can upload plugins from FTP, but I’d prefer to solve this problem too.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.

  • Hi!

Have you set the correct permissions and/or user for the wp-content/plugins folder? WordPress needs your files to be ‘owned by the user under which your Apache server executes’ (http://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Automatic_Update). Usually, that’s www or apache. I believe the permissions for the wp-content folder should be 755.

    Hope that helps.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion, as I have had some permission issues in the past, but unfortunately, that isn’t it this time.

    Any other suggestions?

Try adding AddType x-mapp-php5 .php to the top of your WordPress .htaccess file.

    Hey Esmi –

Before I start playing around with the .htaccess file, can you tell me exactly where to add it?

    Thank you for your help!
