  • Make sure the font files are in place. Try deleting them all and uploading them again. You can find the default fonts in the plugin directory.

Try turning on wordpress debugging and see if you get any errors or warnings.

deleting and re-uploading the fonts did not do the trick. turning on wp debugging now

    Debug on reveals this:

FYI – I got the same exact error messages when I turned on debugging on my dev site

FYI, I completely downloaded the entire plugin copy from my dev instance of WP and uploaded it to the live instance of WP — no success.

Weird. I’m not sure what its doing.

So you didnt do a fresh install of the plugin?

    Thread Starter frank tredici

    (@frank13)

Yes, at first I installed the plugin through the Admin Panel > Install Plugin > FTP

    That did not work.

So I downloaded my dev instance and uploaded it to live (having first deleted the plugin install).

    That did not work.

The I went back the the original install prior to my dev download. And I deleted the fonts directory and re-uploaded it from my local machine.

    That did not work.

Assuming GD / FreeType is installed on the server, and I set the plugin settings per the setting page, what other tweaks to the plugin or to wordpress need to be made?

None. I’m not sure what the problem is.

    Thread Starter frank tredici

    (@frank13)

    well that’s unfortunate for me

wonder if it’s a permissions thing. does the plugin need to write to the server somehow?

looking for suggestions on how to troubleshoot when a plugin works on one instance of WordPress but not on another when both instances are on the same server. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I just realized you said you deleted the fonts directory. I meant that you should go into the FlexibleCaptcha settings page and delete the font files through there. Then use that page to upload the font files again. I’m thinking the paths are wrong.

Its under Settings->FlexibleCaptcha in the admin. Click the red button with the white x next to each font file to delete them.
