I have placed a few plug ins into my wp-content folder on my web host site, but when I go to my blog, they are not listed there so that I can activate them. WordPress says that generally they go into the wp-content folder. I use bluehost, which uses cpanel and say the have the same file configuration as most web host. Any one have any suggestions? We tried putting them into all of the wp-content folders. Unfotrunately more than one person tried to help creating duplicate folders.
No. nothing says they go inside wp-content. Anywhere.
Plugins go inside wp-content/plugins.
Look at how wp-content/plugins/askimet is done?
Additionally, nearly all plugins come with some sort of installation instructions.

I was simply reading that on my admin panel. but you are correct about the /plugins part.
I simply downloaded the plugins and placed them in the folder at my web host. I didn't see any specific directions.
I am using 2.5.1 and that is all that was said and then to activate from wp-admin. As you do with Hello Dolly and Askimet.
I am not sure what you mean by getting directions with the plug-ins. I will double check this and let you know. thanks for trying to help.

Actually I checked all of my files and I don't see a file that says wp content/plug-ins. I do see a wp-content folder. I also do have Askimet. So is this because this is the latest release I am using?
Sorry but I am confused.
In the wp-content folder, there should be another folder called "plugins". Inside that folder, you create a new folder for your plugin, then put the plugin files inside that folder.

YEAH, thanks Otto you are so correct. To find the correct folder, I had to call my web host and get lucky. Turns out the folder was under public html/blog/wp-content.plug-ins.
Hopefully that may help someone else. It can get confusing when you have more than one blog or domain.
