I need an answer pretty fast on this one. Thanks.

I went to upload a plugin for a drop down menu and when I activated it, code appeared at the top of the dashboard page and the website I’m working on.

What happened and what can I do to undo this? I went to delete the plug-in I had just uploaded and its not there.

Anybody have even a vague idea of what I did wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

  • can you paste the error here?

I don’t know about her error but here is the error code that I am getting when I try to sign into wp-admin portion of my site.

“Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/gunther/public_html/wp-content/plugins/submit-to-any-for-wordpress/submit-to-any.php:72) in /home/gunther/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 850”

I need to fix this ASAP as I have a lot of work I need to get done on the site and this is preventing me from doing so. I need to know how to get into the system and remove whichever plug in is causing this problem.

    Thanks,
    Brian

Thats what I’m getting. I discovered that I uploaded something that was not a plug-in, but for some reason it went through all the steps as if it was. Now I can’t find the file foler anywhere to delete it.

    THANKS.

    briantnaz,

I need to know how to get into the system and remove whichever plug in is causing this problem.

Use your ftp client — delete the plugin files.

Um, I am the original poster ????

I know, I am sorry. I totally misread the thread. Im actually going to back now, read yours (again) and try to help you.

ok, so .. youre saying this:

    /home/james122/public_html/wp-content/plugins/drop_down_theme/

    doesnt exist?

There’s 2 ways I see of fixing that. The easiest would be to just upload the file using your FTP client. Put them there. Where wordpress expects them.

The second involves meddling in the database.

    (@kaylenelise)

ok, thanks so much for replying.

Yes, thats exactly right. /home/james122/public_html/wp-content/plugins/drop_down_theme/ does not exist.

Do you mean upload the files that I accidently uploaded into the plug-ins, into another folder where wordpress would recognize what it is?

    wordpress is looking here:

    /home/james122/public_html/wp-content/plugins/drop_down_theme/

so FTP in, and upload the plugin there. Read the readme inside the plugin zip. It explains the “old” way of installing a plugin.

Youre just giving wordpress what it wants. Follow? the files arent there, so PUT them there with your FTP client.

    (@kaylenelise)

YES! Now I follow! THANKS for clarifying! Let me see if that works. Thankfully, I’ve used the “old” way before 🙂

I went to transfer the file into my plugin folder and it said that one already existed and wanted to know if I wanted it merged (etc… we all know that line). Anyways, its not listed there! It says its there but there’s no way for me to see or access it.

dreamweaver isnt an ftp client, if thats what youre using.

whats the url to this blog please..

furthermore Ill be happy to look and see what i see via FTP, but you would have to contact me off the forum or provide your email.

    I’m using SmartFTP

    The site is http://jamesnyondo09.com

However, we have the site on a redirect right now, while we’re working on it…and especially since its so messed up. We have a high viewer count so i can’t remove the re-direct at just any given time.

Thanks so much for the offer and the suggestions. I really do appreciate it.
