The Events Calendar
Plug-in automatically creates page/2 404's (4 posts)

    Hi there,

a couple of weeks ago I installed The Events Calendar plug-in on our site http://www.inspirerend-wonen.be. In Webmaster Tools it now shows 100's of 404 pages, e.g.: http://www.inspirerend-wonen.be/events/1813-07/page/2

First problem is that the plug-in seems to automatically create pages for events in the past, in the example it is an overview page for the year 1813?! How do I make sure it only makes events in the future and not the past?

Second problem is that it seems to automatically generate a link to a page/2. Problem is that there can't be a page two for a month overview which therefore returns a 404-error.

Any idea how I can fix these problems?

    Thanks in advance!

Hey Proby. Thanks for the note here; this is an odd behavior, and it definitely shouldn't have created those extra pages unless something else is at play here. What version have you installed? Is it a pre-2.0.11 build?

    Hi Roblagatta,

    thanks for your response!

The version currently installed is: 2.0.10, so yes, it's a pre-2.0.11 build.

Do you think upgrading will end these problems? And when I update, do I have to insert all the events again? Or is it stored in a database?

    Grts,

Hey there Proby. I'd say updating to the latest version is definitely the best place to start; you'd want to back up your site before doing the update (as is a good practice to get into anytime you update a plugin), but this is an extremely minor update and shouldn't have any significant impacts.

You won't have to re-add events, no...all your events and the settings related to them should be stored in the DB and won't be impacted by the update. Let me know what that yields and I can try to assist as needed from there.
