  • Youve made good use of the Vistered Little theme. Its nice, nothing appears to be broke in Firefox. Its a smidge “bland” though; I tend to prefer more originality, but its still nice.

Thanks for your thoughts. I’ve been through at least a dozen themes since starting the blog last year, though for most of that time I used Regulus. Then I came across Vistered and knew I had to have it. I like the way each review is encapsulated in its own little graphic bubble.

Can you tell if the meta tags are ok?

they look fine to me, and since I looked again now I like it even more. I have to agree, for a movie blog, the encapsulation thing works nicely. 🙂

I also like the plain look of the header – I wouldnt change a thing about that. (if anyone suggests otherwise)

I was thinking of centering the title on the banner. Do you think that would be an improvement?

Also, I wanted to create meta tags for each post so that when someone searches for, say, “Caddyshack” somewhere in Google’s results a link to my review will show up. Is this feasible, or will too many meta tags signal Google’s bot to ignore me?

I like the design of your site a lot. It does make each element stand out. Perfect! There are plugins to add meta tags to your site. Kaf’s head-meta-desc plugin seems to be the simplest one to use. It has a lot of flexibility.

I also like your site a lot, very good layout for your purpose. I will be back to read through some of the movies 🙂

jwurster: Thanks! I wish I could take credit for the theme. I just got rid of the wallpapers and tweaked the banner a bit.

I already have “Another WordPress Meta Plugin” installed and am in the process of adding meta tags to my back posts. But I thought I read somewhere that if there are too many meta tags Google’s spider will ignore them. Is this true?

faustina: Thanks! I hope you like the reviews.

Great blog. Looks nice and clean.

Im not sure if you wanted this kind of functionality, I just think it would be cool there. A plugin that lets you star rate each on of your movies.

Thank you very kindly, Rivot! I may try that out, although I’m already familiar with Paul Gosicki’s plugin (http://paulgoscicki.com/projects/wp-movie-ratings/), which essentially does the same.

What I really want is a plugin that can retrieve select credit info. from IMDB so that I don’t have to manually type that info in every time I write a review. Gosicki has said that he plans to implement that ability in some future version of his plugin.

oh right on, thats the kind of plugin I was looking for as well. Stars are fine and all, but being able to snag stuff from imdb would be great.

Spoke to Ebert and Roeper. Two thumbs up! 🙂

You wouldn’t even need a star rating plugin really if you didn’t want to find one. You could just make (for example) 5 categories. ***** would be one category, and **** would be the next etc. Then just tag each review as it’s ratings category.

It would be nice to cross reference by your ratings. Which categories enable.

    gestroud: Muchos gracias!

kowai: Thanks for your idea! The only problem is that a rating system wouldn’t really work for me, because I approve of all the film’s I review. However, instead of a five star rating system I should maybe think about a rating system that separates the masterpieces from the merely good stuff.
