Please HELP me with deprecated, blah, blah!

I can’t even get to it to tell you which version I’m using! I can’t get to anything to fix anything because all I get is deprecated this, that and the other thing.

EX:

<i>Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home/content/h/o/m/homespunhon/html/wp-settings.php on line 229</i>

Thanks for telling me but what the hell do I do about it??? I can’t post, I can’t get into anything admin.

I am tired, frustrated and in tears over this. I did not set this up over five years ago so I don’t know the secrets behind getting into it to fix it. wp-admin is just more of the same — I have no controls as I cannot gain access to them.

I don’t know what to do.

I did my HTML by hand in years past. I could fix that. This way I have no clue!

you are using version 2.2. you should update to the current version as security vulnerabilities have been found in old versions which have been fixed in later versions.

Setting the WP_DEBUG flag in the wp-config.php to false would suppress these deprecated messages if you were using a version that supported it, however that option was introduced in v2.32

as automatic updates were not available until v2.7 you will need to perform manual updates

Thank you for that link and for your input cubecolour!

My biggest problem still remains. I still can’t get anywhere to do anything. How do I get into my Administration Screen? How do you log in and get around those deprecated messages?

Everywhere I go, that’s all I get. Sigh.

Try:
– switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
