I need a plugin to display upcoming artists on my side bar. Perferbaly with a thumbnail and description that links to an article does this exist???

Why do you wish to do it with a plugin?
Just create a category "upcoming artists" and display these posts along with their their respective thumbnails and excerpts in your sidebar...
