for these kinds of formatting tasks, please try to work with the Firefox extension Firebug http://getfirebug.com/, for instance.
or post a link to your site.
A link to your site would help us to see what’s going on.
Most of us use something like Firebug to checkout the style rules affecting the features you mention, but of course we can only do that if you give us a link to your site.

ok, thanks guys, here is the link: http://wwww.paradisemarines.co.za/index.php
I would like to change the grey to sky blue
It looks to me as though it’s all done with images, with about nine different images for each area such as the content, the title and so on.
Changing all that looks like a major headache to me, but perhaps somebody else will have a better idea.

ohhhh no, just spent right through the night modyfying this theme ???
Well, as I say, somebody else may have a better idea than me. I’m far from oracle-like in what I say…
Also, if you’ve invested a lot in your modifications, you might take a look at the images folder, work out which themes need to be changed, and change them. A bit of work, it’s true, but not beyond the wit of anyone with a passing ability with the GIMP or Photoshop, or whatever graphics package you use.
The images are in the theme’s ‘images’ folder and have names like ‘block_s.png’ and ‘blockcontent_s.png’. The good news is that many of them are re-used by being offset to create, for example, the rounded corners.

If you want to follow the recommended way of doing things, the first thing you will do is to create a child theme. Doing so will allow you to update the parent theme without worrying about overwriting any changes you might have made.
To alter the content of the footer, copy footer.php (assuming your theme has a normal structure) into your child theme’s directory and make your changes in the child theme’s footer.php file.
Changes to presentation, including positioning of elements, are almost always done by adding new rules to your child theme’s CSS file.
