    Hello

I'd really appreciate some help, I've spent HOURS on this over the last couple of days and things have got worse!

Firstly, I noticed plug ins wouldn't install. Then the latest version of WordPress wouldn't install either. Error message was something about not being able to creat a public file. I found and tried a fix which involved deleting and renaming the 'Upgrade' file and....

Now I can't get into WordPress admin at all, just get the error message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 262144 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 311296 bytes) in /home/cleverca/public_html/blog/wp-admin/edit-form-advanced.php on line 245

    or this one too

Fatal error: Call to undefined function _wp_admin_html_begin() in /home/cleverca/public_html/blog/wp-admin/admin-header.php on line 40

The blog on my website is still there, I just can't access admin.

Any help MUCH appreciated it's driving me NUTS!! ;-)

I only have the most basis grasp of how this all works so please use plain language(!) - I just about know how to access my ftp and cPanel but don't really understand all the stuff in there!!

Thanks VERY MUCH in advance for any help!!!!

Think I'm using 3.1 but now can't get in to check for sure...

    best

    Hi thanks for that link.

I increased the memory in wp-config and deleted all plugins. Same error messages kept happening and ....THEN

I just checked my blog and it's disappeared!!

    Now I'm really lost! :-O

If it helps this is the blog

This very old blog file does work

    http://www.clevercarbuyer.com/blog2

Should I transfer some files from blog2 to blog?

    Brain is exploding!

Try re-uploading all files & folders - except the wp-content folder - from a fresh download of WordPress to the problem blog.

Hi thanks so much for that!

Should I be following instructions for 'upgrading' or 'installation'?

    Sorry for the dumb questions!

    :-)

What version of WordPress are you currently using?

I'm not sure to be honest and now I can't get in to see! (I didn't personally set WordPress up). Is there a way to find out?

I started using it in June 2010 - I think it might be 3.1?

Were both blogs using the same version of WordPress. The old blog is using WordPress 3.1

Yes I'm almost certain the other one would have been 3.1 too as they were started at the same time. Thanks.

Ok I managed to upgrade to 3.3.1 using fantastico...

Still the same problem though, I can't access admin at all. Is there an easy way to reset everything? As long as I have the actual blog content I've written I don't mind losing anything else just to get up and running again...

    the blog url is

    thanks

As long as you have a database backup or export from from the old blog, your content is safe. Which do you have?

    Hi again

Sorry if this sounds dumb but I'm not sure. I didn't set WordPress up originally and I can't get hold of the person who did. I'm struggling with the technology as you can see!

I haven't personally done any specific database backup or export (although I do back up my whole laptop to a hard drive).

I'm guessing the content is ok though, it accessing it that possibly the issue??

    Thanks a lot esmi.

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean?

I use the dashboard at http://www.clevercarbuyer.com/blog/wp-admin/ to post blogs

I can now get into the admin but the blogs still down....

It first went live around June 2010 although the blog wasn't added until June 2011

Can you export the site's content via Tools -> Export?

Thanks but I've located the problem - something to do with the twenty eleven theme was wrong. Thanks for your help anyway :-)
