   I want to place HTML Layers (layers will contain the HTML code) in the places mentioned in this image:

   how can I do it?

   what are widgets? I do not know whether my theme is using it or not

   You put your code in your theme's sidebar.php.

   I read about the widgets and no my theme is not using them. when I go to widgets section, it shows 2 sidebars, when I add a widget to sidebar 1, nothing changes in sidebar 1 means no changes are there when I go to blog (I also refreshed it) but when I go to sidebar 2 and add widgets, it is working but then sidebar1 hides.

   I put the code on sidebar.php but the content is appearing OVER the existing content not below the content
