Placement of Easy Related Posts via functions.php (6 posts)

    Just installed your Related Posts plugin. But have two major issues...

    (1) Placement of Related Posts

    Currently, Easy Related Placements cannot be moved in terms of placement, where it is displayed on a single post.

    How can I move it using my theme's functions.php file, like for other plugins.

    For example:
    if(function_exists('get_related_posts_slider')) {

    echo '<div class="hr1"><!-- --></div>';

    get_related_posts_slider();

    echo '</br>';

    }
    Where function name is of your main plugin function.

    (2) No Display on some Posts

    Also, no Related Posts appear if a gallery is displayed (using the NextGen plugin).

    Any help with this will be highly appreciated.

    Using: WP 3.7.1

    Thanks

    Hi Indy,

    (1) Placement of Related Posts

    Unfortunately there isn't such option. Plugin automaticaly displays related posts and there isn't a function to call it individualy at the moment.

    (2) No Display on some Posts

    It seems I can't reproduce this. In my setup ERP is displaying related posts even if NextGen Gallery is displayed. When you disable the NextGen plugin then ERP is displaying properly?

    Hi Vagenas,

    Are you likely to include the placement functionality in a new release soon? This is a much needed facility and will make your plugin very flexible to use.

    I have not tried switching of NextGen. Will try it and let you know.

    Thanks
    Indy

    Hi Indy,

    Actually I am planing to implement a shortcode interface.
    This will be more or less the same, as theme developers will be able to call the shortcode with the do_shortcode() function, in addition a shortcode will be more user friendly for end users.

    As for when this functionality will be implemented I can't promise anything at the moment. Major changes are on the way for this plugin as I am trying to make it more easier to use, adding more customization options, trying to improve compatibility with other plugins and many other features...

    But this is a project for my free time and I can't promise anything...

    Thank you anyway for your interest.

    Panos Vagenas

    Hi Vagenas,

    One suggestion which would be very welcomed in the plugin is as follows:

    The plugin allows you to display a set number of posts e.g. 4 on a post but you can set a total like 16 (divisible by the set number) and then you have < and > arrows to allow the reader to move through the total posts.

    I think you will need JQuery for this but it will make you plugin one of the most effective related posts plugins.

    Regards,
    Indi
