Pings & Trackbacks in and out don't work.... (10 posts)

I've been running WordPress 1.2.2 for about a month now... and I've noticed that I can't send out trackback pings or receive trackback pings.... also WordPress isn't sending out Ping notifications to Ping-o-Matic either....

I have update services set to http://rpc.pingomatic.com/... I am using the correct trackback URL's when attempting to send or receive a trackback... I'm kind of at a loss of what to do next... any ideas?

I was under the impression that Ping-o-Matic ran transparently, and wouldn't generate a readout like a manual ping would.

As for the not receiving part, are you using <?php trackback_rdf() ?> somewhere on your template? Also keep in mind that not everyone uses TrackBack, even if it is available to them.

Yes, but if I follow the posting with a manual ping, I should get error messages that I just pinged the service.... or, I should get a notification on my BlogRoll that my website's been updated, and I get neither.

As far as <?php trackback_rdf() ?> is that for both inbound and outbound Trackback pings? I've been testing this from another blog that also uses Trackback (and has it working), so someone not using it is not the issue.

  4. As far as I've seen, ping-o-matic does not send back any confirmation. Due to popularity, it's a little bit slow (10min-1hr), but it's always got the job done for me.

Well, the pingback seems to fail on the pages it's supposed to work. For example, here's my post pinging WP dev blog posting, which definitely supports pingbacks. Apparently, something is not working, and I suspect it's on my side.

You can test your pings and tracks here:

    It might help ?

Actually, been trying with those two test sites... and my site is not accepting pingbacks or trackbacks from those sites, nor is sending pingbacks or trackbacks to that site.

And if you go to http://www.pingomatic.com and do a manual ping... it will give you the confirmation messages from each service it pings... If WordPress is doing its job and sending a ping through pingomatic, I should get error messages when I go back to http://www.pingomatic.com and try again.... OR, I should be able to see **NEW** next to my blog's entry in my own blogroll (blogrolling.com is one of the services pingomatic pings)....

I had the same issue, but when I changed hosts to 1&1 yesterday and reuploaded everything without a single change, trackbacks started working.

Perhaps some hosting outfits are blocking pings and trackbacks from going out?

I have a similar problem. Just used the test site from Podz. Pings in and out worked on two different WP 1.2.2 sites on two different hosts with the testing procedure Podz laid out on his site -- BUT my regular posts are not showing in Weblogs, blogroll, or any other engines supposedly being pinged by WP when a new post being published.

Any ideas on what other settings to check now that the "host issue" has been ruled out? I'm assuming that the pinging of the sites is automatic, but am I missing something? Would apprecciate any feedback becasue I'm totally baffled!

    it is in spanish http://zootropo.f2o.org/archivos/2004/08/15/trackback/
and here is in italian http://digitaldivide.garuti.it/2004/12/17/piccola-manutenzione-2-i-trackback/.. also in this site it gives you the archives so you only have to download then alredy modified...
