    Hello,

I’m slowly learning more & more about the capibilities of my blog.

I’v imported a rss.xml into my blog, it has dated posts.

I was told that because the posts are dated for the future, when they post, they will not ping my update services automatically, so I will need to go to pingomatic.com every so often (once a day) and input the url of your blog. Another option is to set a cron to ping pingomatic once daily.

Can someone advise on how to set this up in cron?

    Confused

If you’re using WordPress 2.1 and up, then the posts will ping on their own, in the future when they get published. No need to do anything.

Thanks for responding Otto, I’m using wordpress-2[1].0.4.

But there was a post schedualed for today & it didn’t post automatically.

Maybe my defination of pinging is incorrect.

I read the pinging doc but still a lil hazy, will pinging cause a dataed post to POST when its suppose to without any interaction from me what so ever?

    No. Two different things.

In WordPress 2.0.x, a post will appear at the time given to the post. This happens regardless of anything else. If it doesn’t appear, then the time you gave it is wrong, or your server thinks it’s a different time than you do, or something.

Pinging is a wholly different thing that has zero to do with when a post shows up.

Now, because you’re using an older version of wordpress, and you imported from an RSS feed, there may be a bug that’s causing your posts not to appear. Try editing each post, and clicking the “change timestamp” thing on, then publishing it. You don’t have to actually change the timestamp, just turn that on and resave. This should resave the time correctly and cause them to start showing up.

Oh, and upgrade. To 2.0.10 at least.
