I wrote an article about a month ago and included links to other articles/blogs with the same subject matter (how to save money on your electric bill - the article can be found here:http://www.techelectricity.com/blog/save-electric-bill-top-10/)
I was under the impression that WordPress automatically pinged the outside links upon publishing to see if they would be inclined to link back. After a month no articles have linked back. It may just be my content is not dynamic enough, but I suspect they may not be getting the message.
What is the best practice for letting other blogs/articles know that you've linked to them to try and get them to link back? This is my question?
I'll take any advice as I'm new to blogging. I did want to share with you all that I installed a plugin called "Pingchecker" which is pretty handy in that it scans all of your links and then lets you check for pingability see screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/mXZ88QZ0GiG however, I can't tell if it's working. I linked to one of my other blogs and hit the "check pingability" and "ping now" button, and on the other blog I never received any type of alert that another blog was linking to me...once again, I may not even need to be using this plugin as WP is supposed to do this all for you anyway.
Any advice and best practices on how to get other blogs to reciprocate links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
